The art of damascening is thousands of years old. It is used to decorate steel or iron objects and to refine the surface with precious metals. Since 1931, this high art of workmanship has been in the assortment at Pelikan: the Pelikan Toledo. The decorative barrel is made in one piece in sterling silver and then treated in filigree individual steps before the motif is covered with a layer of gold. Each Toledo pen is unique, made in Germany, because the motif contains details hand-stitched by a goldsmith. The cap and front part and the filler grip are made of black precious resin. The 18-K/gold nib is partially rhodium-plated in nib width EF (extra fine). The nib width EF is especially suitable for all very fine, narrow letters of an individual handwriting or for all those who prefer a very fine ink application.
